  • ARRL Kids Day

    Twice a year, ARRL offers an event designed to promote Amateur Radio to our youth. Share the excitement with your kids or grandkids, a Scout troop, a church, or the general public!

    ARRL Kids Day is designed to give on-the-air experience to young people and hopefully foster interest in getting a license of their own. It is also intended to give older hams a chance to share their station and love for Amateur Radio with their children.

  • Volunteer Exam (VE) Test Session

    Kopernik Observatory Science, 698 Underwood Rd, Vestal, NY

    This Volunteer Exam (VE) Test Session is an opportunity for amateur radio enthusiasts to take their licensing exams. To participate, individuals must bring their Federal Registration Number (FRN) or a photocopy of their current license, along with a government-issued photo ID. If you don't already have an FRN number, you can create one through the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) website. Walk-ins are accepted.

    Everyone is welcome to attend as BARA meetings are open to all. The only prerequisite for attending is an interest in Amateur Radio.     Winter Field Day is a communications exercise held on the last full weekend in January. WFD can be worked from the comfort of your home or in a remote location. You can participate by yourself or get your whole club involved. Open to participants worldwide, amateur radio operators may use any mode on frequencies on the HF, VHF or UHF bands. Similar to the ARRL’s Field Day, bonus points are earned in several ways; non-commercial power sources, operating from remote locations and satellite contacts.
